Covid-19 Support

We live in challenging times brought by Covid-19 and those already struggling will face the worst of it. With our mission at Te Whare Awhero (Hope House) to bring hope to our community, we continue to provide support in the following ways:

Community support - Need A Buddy?

In partnership with the Hornby Community Centre, the Greater Hornby Residents’ Association, Salvation Army Hei Hei, Citizens Advice Bureau Hornby and 126 On The Corner, we have launched the “Need A Buddy?” service to support the people in our community who have been asked to isolate due to Covid-19. You can reach us at 0800 H0RNBY (0800 407 629) or send a private message here.

Vaccination support

We have been supporting the vaccination rollout by providing transport to help local residents get to vaccination centres. We have also worked with Pegasus Health to provide mobile pop-up clinics at Wigram Lodge, Hornby Community Centre, Salvation Army Hei Hei and 126 On The Corner Community Trust.

Staff training

We have been providing extra training for staff from medical specialists on how to safely operate in the community with Covid-19 present, and how to also support the people we serve manage both grief and anxiety.

Isolation support packs

We will be working to establish isolation support packs to provide practical support and things to enjoy for people who have been required to isolate due to having made contact with Covid-19.

Covid-19 Hardship Fund

We have launched a Covid-19 Hardship Fund which will be used to support those in need due to the impacts of Covid-19.

If you would like to learn more about this, please give our Director, Carey Ewing a call on 022 533 4415 or email director@hpct.org.nz.

To make a donation to the Covid-19 Hardship Fund, please use the account number 03-0767-0454390-00 and put COVID in the reference. Thank you.
